Social Enterprise Award 2016

‘One to Watch Award,’ New Website and 111 Acre Site…

Social Enterprise Award 2016

We are delighted to announce that following our nomination, we have been short-listed for the ‘One to Watch’ Social Enterprise Award!!! Woo hoo! We have been invited to attend the Gala Award Ceremony at Stormont on 20th October-how exciting!  Please send all good thoughts, prayers and vibes our way-as it would be a fabulous accolade for us to win the award. Regardless however we are honoured with the nomination and short-listing and are really looking forward to the event…and at the very least doing a bit of networking… over wine and nibbles…

We are also delighted to announce the launch of our new look and rebranded website-woo hoo! Just went live today -isn’t she a beauty?

Last but not least, following the article published in the Fermanagh Herald we were contacted by a local farmer who owns… an 111 acre farm… (our poetic ideal for acreage!)  and who is very supportive of our project. We are in early negotiations with him ref exploring options for moving forward. As a next step we have arranged an informal community consultation meeting to introduce some of the locals and community representatives to our plans and aspirations. We do need to raise an equally poetic (*cough*) £777,000 to purchase the site and are considering the possibility of having the Ecovillage land owned by a Community Land Cooperative so that we can sell public shares… though we do also have some Angel Investors who are interested in the project and we note that Cloughjordan were enabled in their Ecovillage set up via (among numerous fundings sources) an ethical private investor lending them £1,000,000… so we remain open to all options for funding at this stage and it will no doubt in the end be a many threaded approach. Feel free to give or lend us a gold or silver thread tho if you have one spare 🙂

We have also written to the Minister for Infrastructure, Chris Hazzard to directly seek his support in reviewing PPS21 to include ‘Low Impact Development’ and have requested a meeting with him. This will be critical in enabling the regional council to award us planning permission for this pioneering initiative.

We are still open to Aspiring Residents and have a planning meeting scheduled for 22nd October in Belfast during which we will be meeting an Aspiring Resident and Investor who is coming across all the way from the USA to meet us…now that’s dedication to the cause!

Keep spreading the word please-we need your support in whatever capacity you may be able to give it… this is a team sport and the ball is firmly at your feet…

…Be part of the solution…
